Let's start at the very beginning!
Incorporating knowledge of early intervention with infants and toddlers, birth to three with special needs or disabilities into the curriculum, coursework, and community sites. Sharing practical teaching strategies with each other.

Purpose of the Colloquium:

  • Share instructional strategies and resources for preparing college students to work effectively in natural environments with infants and toddlers with special needs and their families.
  • Create a community of learners among higher education, direct service providers, and family members who exchange resources, wisdom-based research, and innovative ideas about early intervention, birth to three.
  • Identify the national, state, and local policies, current issues, and challenges of Early On, Part C of IDEA relevant to higher education.
  • Encourage implementation of a transdisciplinary approach among families and colleagues in special education, early childhood education, and specific therapies.

Graduate students may register at a discounted rate of $30.00. To receive the graduate student rate please register first then contact Al Thelen at thelen_a@ccresa.org with your request.

Targeted Audience: Faculty in two and four year colleges and universities in: early childhood education, special education, child development, family ecology, speech and language, occupational and physical therapy, social work, nursing, and other related studies preparing students who will work with families and children with disabilities, birth to three. Professionals who are working in the field in early intervention and family members are encouraged to attend.
